Come to ACE’s 2012 Summer Graduation Ceremony!

When: Thursday, August 16th, 2012, 6:30pm – 8:30pm

Where: The Scholastic Building | 557 Broadway

ACE will be honoring our most recent group of Project Comeback graduates on August 16th at the Scholastic Building (557 Broadway, between Prince and Spring Sts) from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  These formerly homeless men and women have made a commitment to turning their lives around with ACE’s help.  You may have seen our dedicated cleaning crews around town, but this is a chance to experience the profound change that ACE can effect.

Please join the entire ACE family, your fellow New Yorkers, and the proud friends and family of the graduates as we honor their remarkable achievements.  Light refreshments will be served after the ceremony. To R.S.V.P., contact Deana Murtha at 212-274-0550 ext. 52 or

The ACE Shopping Guide Has Arrived!

Ever found yourself downtown, desperate for a good bite to eat or in serious need of some retail therapy?

Never fear, the latest edition of the free ACE Shopping Guide is here! Whether you’re a tourist or a NYC native, these unique, must-have maps are perfect for navigating the best stores, galleries, eateries and hotels that SoHo and Nolita have to offer. Proceeds from the Guide’s ad sales go to benefit our Project Comeback and Project Stay programs, so you can shop and support ACE at the same time.  We’d like to thank all of the businesses that participated and if your store or restaurant missed out, send us an e-mail.

ACE Community ambassadors will be distributing the Guide at various corners throughout Soho and Nolita; keep an eye out for those folks in the bright red windbreakers! You can also look for the Guide at the following locations and if you don’t see it, tell the manager to contact ACE for distribution details:

ACE Supporters Collect Tons of Toys for the Holidays

The amazing toys from our annual ACE toy drive, collected at locations like Tribeca Film Center, Sesame Place, Starbucks and Selima’s Optique, will make this holiday season very merry for the families of our program participants! We were able to assemble bags of goodies for 63 kids of all ages this year.  Thank you to those who participated and donated gifts, and extra special thanks to ACE’s Database Manager Gwen Matos, who has coordinated our toy drive for the last two years.

Catch Cinema Italiano’s Presentation of La Sconosciuta This Sunday

Cinema Italiano will be screening La Sconosciuta by Giuseppe Tornatore at St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral (268 Mulberry St.) this Sunday, Dec. 18 at 8 p.m., as part of the organization’s ongoing film series.  The 2006 flick chronicles a Ukrainian woman’s strange connection to an affluent Italian family.  Proceeds from the free event ($10 donations are suggested) will go to benefit ACE and a few of our program participants will be on hand to assist with the screening.  This is a great chance to support ACE and experience “an incredible story of human love and desperation” from one of Italy’s most renowned modern directors.
