Our crews sweep the streets and sidewalks of our service area twice a day, 362 days a year (every day but Christmas Day, New Years Day and Thanksgiving Day). While sweeping, we empty every garbage can on our routes, bagging trash and maintaining the receptacles themselves. Over the years, we have added 47 additional cans and three recycling units to the neighborhood to supplement those provided by the City.
On any given day, we have approximately 45 men and women working in lower Manhattan, supervised by two route supervisors and our Executive Director, Jim Martin.

Your street will be among the cleanest in the city. Even if you already have someone sweeping for you, they don’t sweep the whole block—we do. But do the streets really stay that clean?
The NYC Department of Sanitation consistently ranks our sweep areas among the cleanest in the city. If, however, your business does receive a ticket from the Sanitation Department, let us know immediately. We do not pay sanitation tickets for our members, but this will give us the opportunity to sweep the area as quickly as possible so the ticket will not be re-issued the following day.
Ok, so the streets are clean. What else?
There are a number of other benefits of becoming a Member. You are immediately eligible to receive our special services at a significantly discounted rate. We offer everything from tree trimming and watering to graffiti removal, mass-clean up, window washing, packing, loading/unloading, painting, and inventory. If you need it done, chances are we can do it for you—and at a competitive rate.
We also offer unique advertising opportunities. You can have your logo featured on a cast iron trash can near your store, showing all of New York how committed you are to a cleaner city.
We provide frequent opportunities for collaboration throughout the year to promote your business and show our gratitude for your contribution. Having a major sale or flagship opening? We’ll let our thousands of donors—most of whom live and work right here in New York—know about it through social media. We will also feature your business or building by including a link to your site on ACEnewyork.org.
